In today's society, hair is a vital part of self-expression and cultural identity. For women, hair braiding is not only a way of self-expression but an ancient art that has been passed down for generations. Pikine African Hair Braiding is a salon that specializes in traditional African braiding techniques and styles. Located on the corner of Wyoming and Seven Mile in Detroit, MI, the salon has been operating since 2001. Founded by Gnilane Karlie, a businesswoman from Senegal who worked hard to fund her business on her own, with more than five employees now, the salon's mission is to empower women by helping them embrace their roots and stand out with different styles of hair braiding. This project aims to present a PR campaign for Pikine African Hair Braiding for the launch of their website to increase brand awareness and attract new customers.
TARGET MARKET
Pikine African Hair Braiding's target market is African American Women ages 25-35 with an annual income of $30,000 to $50,000, residing in Metro Detroit, areas. They are primarily unmarried and pursuing higher education or working in low to medium-income jobs. They are interested in trying new and trendy hairstyles and are willing to spend money to achieve the desired look.

As a Public Relations Professional, I have acquired lots of knowledge and skills to help individuals and small businesses access today's online digital world where they can get more exposure. I founded Real Star, LLC, a Digital Marketing Media & Advertisement Agency to assist clients with all of their branding needs.
In 2016, I decided to change my career as a paralegal for a Law Firm in New York to pursue a Degree in Digital Cinematography at Full Sail University. Before I started Full Sail University, I was unsure about my future career plans. I felt small and unsure, like a solitary person before a vast horizon. I have always wanted to get involves in the Media and Communication Industry but without a production company, that was never going to happen. I worked as a promoter on events and attended different cultural venues when I was living in New York, and I saw first-hand how people from different cultures interact with each other. But then I came to the realization that I needed to acquire the skills and tools to tell my story and to help people from different traditions and cultures connect with each other through their creations.
After I graduated, I created a 360 media, both photo, and video advertisement model for individuals and locals small businesses to help show off their space, services or brand.
